Why the timing matters

Four rules a running total misses

The January rule

TFSA · free

Withdraw from your TFSA and that room does not return until January 1 (the CRA's TFSA contribution rules). Re-contribute before then without room to cover it and the CRA charges 1% a month on the excess. The app tracks the dates for you.

The one-year carry-forward

FHSA · unlock

Skip a year of your FHSA, or contribute less than the $8,000 annual limit, and the difference rolls into next year's room (the CRA's FHSA rules). A tracker that only checks this year against this year's limit misses it. The app knows every prior year.

Two numbers, not one

RESP · unlock

The CRA matches RESP contributions at 20%, up to $500 a year, or $1,000 with a year of carry-forward room (the CRA's RESP contribution rules). That grant limit and the $50,000 lifetime contribution limit are two different numbers. The app tracks both.

Is this a subscription?

No. One payment of $19.99, unlocked on your device. It never recurs.

Which accounts do I get?

TFSA tracking is free. The unlock adds RRSP, FHSA, and RESP in the same app.

Does it stay current when the CRA changes the limits?

Yes. Each year I refresh the app with the CRA's new limits, and because it runs as a web app the update installs itself, at no extra cost. If a new year starts before that update reaches you, the app flags that it is still on the prior year's limits instead of quietly showing an out-of-date number.

Why not a spreadsheet or CRA My Account?

CRA My Account shows your room as of its last update, not the effect of a withdrawal and re-contribution you make today, and a spreadsheet does not know the timing rules. The app applies the CRA rules to the dates you enter and flags a re-contribution that would push you over.

Why pay $19.99 when free tracker apps exist?

The free TFSA tracker stays free. The $19.99 unlock covers RRSP, FHSA, and RESP, the three accounts whose limits run across years. Each has a rule a running total misses. RRSP has a $2,000 cushion above the deduction limit, and the CRA's 1% monthly tax applies only past it. FHSA room carries forward once the account is open, capped at $8,000. What happens to my data?

Your figures stay on your device. The app has no account and no login, and it works offline. Nothing you enter in the app leaves your device.

What if I switch phones?

Your unlock is a code, not an account. Save the code shown after checkout; a copy also goes to your checkout email. Enter it on a new device to restore the paid accounts. Your figures stay on the device, so make an encrypted backup in the app before you switch.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. The unlock has a 30-day money-back policy: email me within 30 days of purchase and I refund in full. A refund ends the licence, so the paid accounts return to locked the next time the app checks in. Reach me at support@hudsonbayfinance.ca .

Is it available in Quebec?

Not at launch. Checkout is available across Canada except Quebec.
